Story and opinion:

Story: Psychopath and his daughter are at a music event because daughter loves that artist.

Cops are in the area, because they got a hint that the psychopath would be there.

Psychopath finds out that the cops are there looking for him, so he emotionally blackmails the singer to get out.

Cops get to the house, but he has escaped though a tunnel he had prepared.

He goes back to the house to kill his wife, which was the one who tipped off the cops.

She drugs him, cops get him. He escapes.

Opinion: Good idea, bad execution: some bad dialogues, some bad directing, some bad acting. Good acting on the girl part. Very convincing.

Story problems: Bad guy gets too easily: 1) that the cops are there for him, 2) the password to show you're just an employee, 3) the keycard to get employee access, 4) access to cop's briefing, 5) cop walkie talkie, 6) access to an employee card, 7) backstage access, 8) access to a one on one with a very famous singer, 9) getting the singer to agree to escort him out, 10) getting his family locked in a room, 11) coming back inside his house with the police looking for him, 12) getting free from the cops after being imprisoned, 13) access to a wristband to hide his tattoo.

Police are too dumb: 1) even though the cops know the killer will do distractions to get out, and the killer does distractions, the police immediately leave their post unattended, 2) the police don't look back in the cameras to find out who's starting the distractions, 3) cops don't ask to check him out, even though he interacts with them, 4) police leave unatended walkie talkies, uniform, and don't look for it afterwards, 5) cops don't care that the killer is constantly being shifty, and looking at security cameras, and looking nervous in front of cops, and talking nervously, 6) too many cops standing around, too few cops talking to civilians, 7) cops leaving their doors unatended or open.

Inconsistence of character personality: 1) Daughter pays too much attention to dad sometimes, and sometimes completely ignores him, exactly when script needs it to. 2) dad is supposed to be an organized serial killer, but is great at improvising, and also has a tattoo that could make him easily identifiable. 3) mom knew dad could be a killer and was stone cold in dealing with him, for a week, but also puts the life of her daughters on the line standing them in front of the dad's car with him in it, but also is very afraid of him when dealing with him later. 4) a super attention seeker teen singer is supposed to be altruistic and risk her life to save the life of a stranger. 5) an audience of people who are supposed to be enamored with famous teen singer don't constantly try to swarm her when given a chance.

There are many more issues, but I'm tired.

The Conveniences of a Serial Killer

"Trap" (2024) generated great expectations since the release of its trailer, which presented a relatively new and thought-provoking premise, in addition to being directed by M. Night Shyamalan. However, despite the initial potential, several wrong decisions compromised the final result of the work.

The absence of graphic violence reduces the impact of the film, generating few scenes of true tension. The script relies on several conveniences, making the protagonist seem more "lucky" than strategist. Furthermore, the superficial development of the serial killer makes his arc not very engaging, which negatively affects the construction of the character. The twist in the third act is not surprising and seems unnecessary, wasting the opportunity for a remarkable outcome, something expected in the director's films. On the other hand, the soundtrack and its theme is a strong point, differentiating itself from other productions of the genre and adding value to the narrative.

Although technically well produced, the film has flaws that undermine the impact of the proposal. "Trap" ends up becoming another generic psychological horror film, despite its interesting musical theme.

Nepotism: The Movie

Imagine being Josh Hartnett. Putting in a good performance of a man unravelling only for the final product to be a feature-length advert for the promotion of the director's daughter.

Distinctly average all round, with only Harnett putting in a credible display.

I need to hit the character count so I'll list some of the elements of the movie that make the least sense:

*Despite being warned that 'The Butcher' will try to cause distractions, the police repeatedly abandon their posts when he does.

*The FBI allow over 20,000 people to enter an arena, knowing that the man they want to trap will realise it's a setup and putting any number of people at risk.

*Once they have the killer in custody, they allow him to stop on the way to the police van so he can stand his daughter's bike up.

*The FBI plan to question every man at the venue, except anyone who leaves with the star.
