Plot summary

During a night of partying in a deserted barn, five girls unleash a demon which jumps from body to body, killing anyone it wishes. With nowhere to run or hide, who will make it to midnight to survive.

Twitchy Trish is worth 38 minutes of your time

I really got my money's worth watching this horror story that takes place in a barn and features five performers I had never heard of before.It only cost me 73 cents on Amazon Prime.But more important, I came away discovering two appealing young actresses that I plan to watch soon in other movies. Now THAT'S what I call getting a bargain.The movie itself? I'll say that they packed a lot of "terror" and blood in 38 minutes, and made you actually care about who was going to die next. They didn't, however, bring anything new to the table. It's a pretty unremarkable story.It deals with five young women who spend a night partying in an abandoned barn, which was once the site of a bloody mess.The young people who were there that night 10 years earlier summoned up a demon. They got possessed one by one, attacked each other, and were found in various states of dead the next morning. Believe it or not, they managed to shove a pretty complete flashback into the first eight minutes or so.Now it's 1986 and wacky Melissa (Beth Metcalf) - despite knowing the backstory - has rented this barn for what she thinks is a cool outing for her and her friends.The other girls aren't all that excited about it, however. For one thing, it's a barn. And it's not in the best of shape. They get snippy with her. One of the girls has the line of the movie when she says, "Melissa, do you realize how many horror movies start with a bunch of girls drinking in the middle of the wood?"Go ahead and add this one to the list, because Missy keeps pushing buttons until the girls agree to hold the same ceremony. They, of course, conjure up the demon, and you can watch the rest on Prime for a very affordable price.As for those two actresses...I was absolutely knocked out by Magdalena Conway, who plays twitchy Trish. Trish wears glasses, is painfully shy, has no self-confidence and feels like everybody around her things she's boring and stupid. Taydem Shoesmith as witty Samantha also stood out to me.Both are also in a movie called "It Came From Somewhere," a throwback homage to the 1950s, which is on my short to-watch list.

Was there a point to the storyline?...

Never having heard about this 2022 horror short film from directors Ashley Hefner and Steve Hermann prior to sitting down in 2023 to watch it. But with it being a horror movie of sorts, of course I opted to watch it and give it a fair chance.

Even while running at only 39 minutes, then "Trepidity" wasn't really particularly enjoyable. Sure, it looked like those participating in making it were having fun doing so, but for us on the other side of the screen watching it, this movie just didn't cut it.

The storyline from writers Steve Hermann and Emma Norville didn't had much to offer. And even with its short length working against it, there just wasn't much to be enjoyed in the storyline. It was too simplistic and sort of served no purpose.

Needless to say that for a project such as this, then there are no familiar faces or names on the cast list. I am sure that those involved did their best in performing for the camera, however I wasn't particularly impressed.

"Trepidity" came and went without any lasting impression. And this is not something I would recommend horror fans to rush out to get to watch. Nor is it something that I will ever sit down to watch a second time.

My rating of "Trepidity" lands on a three out of ten stars.
