Plot summary

Two years after their breakup, a Bicolano chef on the rise reunites with his ex- girlfriend who is back in the province for a brief work visit. Still feeling bitter about their breakup, he tries to seduce her to ruin her engagement, only to find himself falling for her once more.

Generic But Decent Filipino Romance

"Un/Happy for You" is a generic Feel Good Romance that's very predictable and formula driven. This film is a comeback movie of Joshua Garcia and Julia Barreto love team both did justice to their roles. Both is just ok on every level even the dramatic scenes. The theme song,"Paubaya" as sung by Moira is out of place and is far from its theme. The cinematography is just ok. The story and direction feels rushed but you get to enjoy the movie. But the ending is a stand out. I won't spoil it.Overall, "Un/Happy for You" is just decent and pure escapists for a Filipino film. It feels like a Filipino movie I've seen before. But if you're a fan of JoshLia love team then you might like it as a whole.

Terrible movie with terrible characters.

This movie is a pain to watch; the main characters are written terribly, seemingly on purpose. The story doesn't make sense, and this movie is a waste of time. The only good thing about this movie is that it is shot well and has good camera work, just like all modern movies. Unfortunately, that doesn't save this story of disaster. This movie tries to make you root for these characters, but they are so selfish, with awkward moments that don't make sense. This movie's story goes back and forth between shallow apologies and regrettable mistakes. Don't waste your time with this movie, as this is another cash-grab movie that thinks it's so clever and deep about love and heartbreak but ends up falling terribly short. This movie is artificially shallow and is one of many examples of garbage movies that poorly represent Filipino cinema.

There are better Filipino Movies

Story is very dry. Too many moments of silence and empty scenes that were a waste of time. Filipino movies used to have such a good story, building characters and creating moments we can all relate to. The characters are unlovable and so tone deaf. Unfortunately the story did not live up to the amazing cast. Movie came off corny as well. The characters had way too many plot holes, and it was ultimately annoying to watch the protagonists have such a ditzy and clueless motivation to just set aside their values for something so desperate. The ending was also unsatisfying. This new age of filipino movies with this style in my opinion are lackluster. I'd pass on this one.
