Plot summary

Shinobu Himeno is arrested and thrown into Asahi Female Prison for being an unwilling accomplice in a jewelry store robbery. She’s to serve her sentence in the infamous Cell Block 21, a dismal area full of tough, sex-starved women. Himeno is bullied and abused by inmates and guards. After being framed for starting a fight, she is taken away and tied up. Can the shy Himeno ever escape this living hell?

Solid Women in Prison entertainment!

A woman is arrested after a robbery and sent to a woman's only prison.First, you have to buy into a very early scene of robbers using a bright pink florist's delivery van as a getaway vehicle. Took a few minutes for me to accept that.This film is mostly about the stories inside the prison. We also get the backstories of a number of the prisoners besides the main character. Plus the interaction with the warden and guards who are both male and female. Interesting enough to keep this entertaining. While I'd classify as a drama this film doesn't always take itself seriously.This is a Nikkatsu Roman porno. There is quite a bit of softcore nudity and sex scenes. Some are very erotic, some not at all. They even manage to include some bondage. So we get the obligatory sex as well as actual story.If you're watching just for the sex you'll be disappointed. If you're watching just for the story you'll be disappointed. If you watch for both, you'll be thoroughly entertained.

Good WIP entry by Nikkatsu

Shinobu Himeno (Shinobu Wakana), gets thrown in the clink after a botched robbery and once there she suffers all the indignities that the other inmates and the guards throw at her. Pretty much a by the numbers WIP plot, it checks off all the boxes for this genre, sadistic warden and guards? Check! Convict on convict action? Check! Prison Riot? Check! And that old standby, body cavity searches? Check!(this one you gotta see)

At 69 mins, it moves at a good clip, never lagging, and keeps the sex scenes and degradations coming. Recommended for Nikkatsu aficionados and WIP fans in general.

The Impulse/Synapse disc looks good with a 1:85 transfer, and little else on the disc in the way of extras. This is number 26 of these releases. I've noticed that they've stopped including an insert/essay by Jasper Sharp.
