Great documentary

This is a wonderful in-depth documentary of not just Garbage Pail Kids and the counter culture that these cards still represent, but also a fascinating look at trading cards, Bazooka bubble gum, comics and even MAD magazine.

For those of us who grew up on crude, potty humor and satire, Garbage Pail Kids were the holy grail and still are to collectors. They were a perfect mockery of popular dolls at the time that were ironically not even original and the "creator" of Cabbage Patch not only sued Topps, but, was also successfully got sued himself because even he lifted influence. These cards are just the final artistic level.

It's also important to note how great the artwork was and still is with these cards. Incredible artists like John Pound, James Warhola and Tom Bunk drove the original series while artists such as David Gross and Joe Simko do the modern ones. These cards are still being produced and often sell out quickly.

Pro tip; Stop watching after the first 20 minutes

Got to be honest, you can stop watching this after about 20 minutes because everything after is just repetition. I watched this with someone who collected these cards and he told me they were not as popular as this documentary suggests. I'm guessing this was sort of a marketing ploy for the upcoming line of cards they just so happened to talk about towards the end of this commercial.. I mean this documentary. Seems like this documentary was just reaching and killing a ton of time after the initial 20 minutes of the start of it. Not a fun watch.
