(2022) 99 Moons
(In German with English subtitles)
ADULT DRAMA
Written and directed by Jan Gassmann that opens with a defenseless woman that looked like she was being attacked by a man wearing a mask in an underground bridge. And as it turned out it was nothing but play acting or foreplay by the woman herself, Bigma (Valentina Di Pace) to which she gets turned on if someone were to attack her. And because no money was exchanged it may be one of those online hook up requests. She then drops him off as we witness Frank's (Dominik Fellmann) daily routine is like where he interacts with other people while she is at an office trying to compete with other members for sponsor money and wins after her presentation. The next thing we know, he either pursues her and vice versa. To which when Bigma tried the same playacting at the opening but this time with some other person, it was not the same thing. When Frank succeeds into finding out where she works and so forth, she then returns the favor. This is not like any relationship movie for it after the hour mark, we find out she is an already married woman searching for a bad boy to help her relieve some of her fantasies. Will she stay with her faithful, successful husband, Georg Huber (Danny Exnar)!
I tried watching this movie until it got to the scene where they both decided to ditch from paying for their meal! I thought that was too cliche and corny since Bigma was supposed to be the wealthy one who should be able to afford to pay for it after that grant. I have no idea what Frank does for a living, for on one scene, it is presumed he works at a club or at a bar, the next thing we know he is a waiter. The entire movie meanders like that to which if she is actually somewhat supposedly be an upper class scientist, the movie does not do a very good showing it.
Plot summary
Everything is under control, she thinks. Everything is lost, he thinks. And then they meet. And fall.

Movie Reviews
Quite maendering despite the stand out are the fully nude and make out scenes
... these films not gaining a wide audience.. there's a reason
... one of those films where critics having more to say than average viewers... after watching it maybe even more than once, what is it about... two people with so great an intense physical attraction that they can't stop themselves from engaging in sex in whatever-way whenever again and again... lots of very nude action on film (for both being first time acting they really do an incredible job.. job??)... to be taking place over eight years, yet there's no way knowing when any of this is happening
... there's three that must be felt for in all of this... both spouses/family of these kinds of obsessive-pairings, and the viewing audience.
Equivalent to 99 balloons?
Obviously not, but if you know the song by Nena, you may have had the same thought(s) ... or not. Whatever the case, no pun intended as always of course. We do get two people who do not seem to fit - to be a fit that is. And yet as they say opposites attract ... and there is a lot to lick here ... I mean like here ... or do I mean that? Ah another pun.
The movie is quite sexual and it knows it, but in quite the weird way. It is not about shades of grey, but it is about control and power over someone else. It also is about love and how we relate to each other - or not. Are we disconnected, even when we are so close and supposedly super connected (with each other)? There is a case to be made - add other(s) things to the mix and it gets quite dangerous ... well metaphorically speaking that is of course ... can this relationship be sustained? And at what cost?
