I had never heard about this Malaysian and Thai joint venture of a movie prior to sitting down here in 2023 to watch it. But with it being an Asian movie that I had never seen, nor heard about, of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance, given my fascination with the Asian cinema.
Writers Ryon Lee and Min Hwee Tai put together a fair enough script and storyline, at least for a movie that proved to be suitable for a single viewing. Yeah, the movie doesn't really have enough contents to it to support more than just a single viewing. With that being said, it should be noted that the movie is sufficiently entertaining for what it turned out to be. Not an outstanding movie experience, though, but watchable for what it was.
The cast ensemble in the movie was good, and they had a fair cast ensemble to portray the various roles and characters. There were a couple of familiar faces on the cast list, with the likes of Min Chen Lin and a short appearance from Richard Ng.
"Xin Nian Tai Feng Kuang" (aka "A Moment of Happiness") sort of came and went without leaving a lasting impression on me. And while I did sit through the 86 minutes that the movie ran for, I was mildly entertained. This is not a movie that I would recommend for fans of the Asian cinema to rush out and get their hands on.
My rating of "Xin Nian Tai Feng Kuang" lands on a bland five out of ten stars.
