A 2023 movie just made in my top 3 of all time romantic movie list

Honestly I was getting bored in the beginning because of an unusual representation of characters which I wasn't used to. But the brilliant cinematographic art made me keep watching. And by the time being, I started noticing the beauty of it, the storyline progression, the outstanding performance of two main characters made me feel like I'm reading a book and getting lost in imagination but visual representation.

The plot, how I couldn't relate to it exactly but still felt like it's my kinda movie: I wasn't young enough during telephone days. But this movie left me wishing I was young before this social media, dating apps bs. Being a part of this hook up culture of 2023, I hate to its core and can't even get out of it due to the fear of being lonely and left out. This movie left me feeling romantically empty and wondering whether genuine connections are possible or not in this era, or perhaps it's just me, who's brain was conditioned in the culture where there is high chance that my own subconscious mind is also acting as an enemy of forming one, even if there is a window.

Who should watch this movie: Anyone who is patient enough to get on with the flow of the movie, anyone who ever is/was in love, anyone who isn't completely lost in today's "dating>partner just hiccuped?>break up>choose from plenty other options" culture!

Exactly at the halfway mark, the movie implodes

This is two Act film and that fact is key to this review. In the first Act we have one of the most original romcoms in decades. The two leads meet via a phone accident and have an entire relationship over the wire. The dialog is so sharp you can get paper cuts. The direction is brilliant. The camera is never allowed to show the full facial features of either lead, which creates an undercurrent of curiosity that further hooks the viewer. Very McLuhanesque. The first Act was so good it reminded me of Artifice Girl, another unexpected treat for 2023. Then almost precisely at the halfway point the two leads finally meet and the film implodes. Turns out that the script's brilliant handling of a distant relationship is unable to develop any reality or empathy when the leads are actually together in frame. One almost wishes that another creator picks up the idea ... and does it right. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer."
