At first as I watched I thought to myself... man this is cheesy. But after 30 minutes I realized that this is what they were going for. Low budget 80's or 90's theme sci-fi that, although the acting and visuals were low budget, the actual story was pretty cool.
reminded me a bit of back to the future...
5.5

awesome 30 year throwback
Nice poster!
A few days ago this movie was rated 6.5, I guess by the people in it and their friends. It looks like I wanted to learn how to make a movie and went googling for a while and then gathered bunch of friends to start shooting. Apart from the movie appeared to be made on a green wall half of the time, poor acting from Ryan Wesen and Laura James made me stop watching after 22 min. I gave 3 stars out of respect for the effort and time they spent in creating this... this. I don't recommend watching.
Terrible movie with an interesting cast
So, you have John James and Maxwell Caulfield of Dynasty (soap opera) fame. Caulfield looks amazing for his age, as if it's been ~10 years since Dynasty, not >30; James not so much, but he still has those peculiar eyebrows, so it's an interesting trip down the memory lane.
There's also Sean Young, of Blade Runner and The Dune fame (and that's just iconic sci-fi movies, she was actually quite hot in the 80s and played in a lot of stuff then). She doesn't look good at all, but, it's interesting to see her playing in another sci-fi movie, however terrible it is.
And then there's Flash Gordon himself, Sam J Jones. That alone is enough to make a movie interesting. There should have been some spoofs of Flash Gordon, but, then it would have been maybe not a terrible movie, yet it's as if someone wanted this to be bad.
At long last, Laura James, the daughter of John James, has a very interesting combination of cute and hot. Like a little less pretty Olivia Wilde, but with a much better body. The way she towers the protagonist of the movie, without even wearing heels, is very effective.
So, it's a very strange movie; terrible, yet worth seeing for a very unique and interesting cast (who actually seem to be having a good time doing this), if you remember or simply like the sci-fi and soap operas of the 80s.
