Mean Girls

When I saw the cast of this movie, I couldn't believe I had never heard of it before, but now that I've seen it, I know why no one talks about it. I can watch almost any movie and have a good time. But this movie was a hard watch, not only because it wasn't funny but because all the characters are unlikeable jerks. And when the credits started to roll, I asked myself, was that it? Where is the character development? Don't get me wrong. I think the cast are all great actors in other films, Kirsten Dunst (Spiderman Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Isla Fisher (Hot Rod), Lizzy Caplan (Cloverfield), Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect), & Hayes MacArthur (Parks And Rec.) But in this movie, the main three characters are all super mean to Rebel Wilson's character, and they are all shallow, self-centered losers who have no character arc. Also, it's really weird to hear Rebel Wilson try and speak with an American accent. But it isn't as bad as how they fat-shame her the entire movie. I mean poor Rebel :( It wasn't the worst movie in the world. Isla Fisher and Rebel had a few funny moments and did the best with what they had to work with. I wanted to like this movie but there just isn't enough substance for me to get over the fact that the characters are awful people.

Just so bad a movie FAIL

Omgggggg so bad ! I saw the cast and thought this would be a good movie funny. But so wrong..... I knew it was going to bad from the start and thought it would get better but it never did. * SPOILER * It's like they saw hangover and said we could do it In a more unless funny way. It's basically "friends" going to her wedding being childish because it's the "Fat" friend being married first So these drugs friends who think they are still in high school ruin the bachelor party and ruin the wedding dress by making fun of how BIG the dress is "That 2 people could fit in it" Like - what Terrible friends and Terrible People. At least they got the dress to her but what happens on the way to fix the dress is sooooo bad and many dark parts that aren't even funny just really dark. None of this movie is funny except some little line in the this movie. Like I don't have words for this movie definitely going on the worst movie ever list for me. Watch at your own risk....

Mean Girls for grown ups

I loved this movie! So much! But let me warn you by saying this it is for a certain audience. Some people may see these woman as monsters but unless you've been a part of a group like this it's easy to pass up the camaraderie and special type of friendship these woman have. The film centers on a group of women celebrating one of their groups wedding. Chaos of course ensues in a variety of mishaps that I won't reveal because I don't want to ruin the fun. And too most this won't be much fun. Sure the girls come off a little mean, jealous and maybe even shallow. But if you look under the representation you see wounded egos, damaged friendships, yearning hearts and struggling self acceptance amongst many others. I grew up with friends like these and we are still friends. We may gossip every once in a while mostly out of jealousy but we are always there for one each other and we are very defensive of one another. It's hard to explain the group dynamic if only to say that we bond greatly through our insecurities. This is the first film of I hope many where I will see people depicted that remind me so closely of people I know. It's also filled with heartfelt nostalgia of anybody who grew up during the era with lots of 90's references and a knowing sense of grown up humor thats very fresh and doesn't feel like it's been explored much. Now I'm not saying I or anyone I know are the messes these girls are but I can't help but relish the awesomely smart dirty humor and touching drama that make this Mean Girls for grown ups what it is. A great time! 4/5
