An impressive drama

While not Citizen Kane and not without some faults, including a little melodrama, this was still an engaging and enjoyable story of redemption. Well acted, and I do enjoy seeing Dean Cane in whatever role he's in. The lead actor, Ignacyo Matynia did a fine job in his role of the conflicted police office struggling with the dark reality of his job and turning to substance abuse, then ultimately finding redemption. And, you know, I couldn't help but think he looks like a cross between Jensen Ackles and Adrien Brody. Also, reading his name makes me think, "Hallo, my name is Ignacyo Matynia, you killed my father..." etc.

Christianity vs Religionism

I gave the movie 6 Stars because it's telling the true story of a police officer who took to the bottle instead of quitting the police force. The moment he took that first drink because he couldn't handle what he came upon, he should have resigned. Police officers across this nation face hell every day, but they continue doing their job. Sure it affects them, but not all go off the deep end. He was the type who could have become another Derek Chauvin.

I believe telling his story put our police officers in a bad light. It was akin to his statement about "coffee and donuts. Did he actually believe that's all police officers do? It's a way to pass the time? It's all guns and roses?

To the reviewer who didn't give any star. I am a born again believer in Jesus as my Savior, but I'm not "religious". All manner of beliefs can be construed as "religious" including satanism. An atheist can be religious. You get my drift.

To the reviewer who gave it 2 stars and apparently doesn't live in the USA, you missed the whole point of the movie. It's about finding your way back to or just finding God our Creator. Why you watched the movie is puzzling since you don't believe in God. You think of yourself as a god. To use your words "we believe in ourselves, not some God." BTW, not all Europeans believe as you do. It's also apparent you don't like the USA or Americans. What does being an American and living in the USA have to do with this movie? To your way of thinking we are ignorant fools and beneath you.

Good, bad, and ugly

A true story. Good things should only happen to good people, and bad things only to bad people - if God is and is in control. Well, that's the juvenile micromanagement motif Jonathan held as a youngster, leading to agnosticism, since God didn't micromanage, breaking Jonathan's illusion. As a police officer, tender-minded Jonathan moved into slavery to alcoholism to drown his on-job stresses, even cheating on his wife and daughter, and getting to the pitch of contemplating suicide. A fellow officer witnessed a number of times over the years about the power of Christ to break chains of slavery.

The film comes across to me as a basic evangelistic message, with the story is backdrop, not vice versa. I prefer films the other way. It does factor in reasonable realism, which is good, and is quite emotional at points. It does not present Christianity as a magic fix, but as a 'magic' ingredient in the fix: that is good.

Regarding prayer request, there is request to Jesus the lord, request to the lord as meaning God yet speaking to God about God as a third party. There's request to God in "God's name". That is a combination of misdirectionalism, misvisualisation, and misunderstanding.

There is frequent drawn-out tones, oppressive to my ears.
