I mean I am sorry, but you have to cut this a lot of slack to be able to watch it. No pun intended, but this aged really bad. Though I can't imagine anyone falling for the quality of this back in the day - that said, I am not saying that no one will like it. Sometimes I also just dig stuff that is clearly wrong and bad - because it is fun to watch.
This never passes that threshold ... it stays beyond any redeemable factor. Be it acting (if you can call it that), the script/dialog or the direction. No offense, but I don't believe they are so good they only play bad - or act that way. Or wrote it that way ... to fool us or whatever. Anyway, not recommended at all.
Plot summary
Chuck Watts, a fugitive wanted for manslaughter in Kentucky, has been keeping a relatively low profile as an enforcer for Andrew Max, the man who controls the strippers and hookers of New Orleans' club circuit. Unknown to Chuck, Max runs an extensive crime empire with a reach far beyond strippers and hookers--a world of violence and betrayal that quickly overtakes Chuck as he finds himself the key man in a war of competing crime syndicates. As the bloody struggle erupts around him, Chuck is driven to desperate action by one compelling motive--get out alive! (From back of box)

It also brings boredom
One of those Classic, Sleazy 1970s flicks...So Bad its Good.
And of course i say "not bad" with a caveat, because the reason I gave this a 4 out of 10 score was exactly because of how cheesy and somehwat poorly shot it was, at least by todays standards. It was almost a 5, but I cant rate things as 4.5 etc, so...its gotta be a 4, but I liked the film just a tad.
I miss the older films and tv shows that have that slight washed out look to them. As well as the slower, abysmal acting that was present in older cinema, both indie and mainstream.
And though the synopsis for the film gives a fairly accurate and to the point description of how things go in the movie, I found myself liking the characters and the sights of New Orleans all those decades ago as if I was there. Just like how people enjoy "B Movie nights" or crummier horror films because they are so bad, they end up being kinda good in peoples minds as cult classics, Death Brings Roses falls into that category very slightly. It has a lot of the exploitative qualities from that bygone era of film which is a part of cinematic history that shouldnt be forgotten.
Most people shouldnt expect much from this. AS I said, this film is old, and many will immediately not like it. But if you like cheesy old flicks to laugh at or just kinda feel strangely nostalgic, it doesnt hurt to have a few drinks with some friends while watching this film. Many drinks. :P.
