I had recently seen jackson rathbone in condor's nest, which just came out in 2023. Here, jimmy and maggie (andrea londo) keep bumping into each other. They don't know each other, but they seem to be appearing in each other's dreams. Lots of talk about dreams. Poets. Symbolism, like ravens on the telephone wires in the cemetery. Jimmy and maggie keep dreaming, and waking up suddenly. But the story doesn't seem to have a solid plot; it meanders from dreams, to arguments, to job interviews. Quite a bit of talk about children getting murdered or abused. The "dream detective" shows up now and then, seemingly randomly. A father, insulting his daughter for no reason. Everyone is fighting. Up until the end, when some things get resolved. But I'm still not sure what the movie was about. Discussion of dreams, and what their purpose is? Maybe. Written and directed by hugh schulze. Most of this went over my head. I think it's trying to be too many things.
Plot summary
Maggie and Jimmy have never met, but they keep showing up in each other’s dreams. As they navigate memories, traumas, hopes and desires in sleep and the waking world, they’ll discover the truth of their linked destiny with the help of a dream detective, a sleep scientist and the poet Walt Whitman himself.

not quite sure what the story is...
If you like Walt Whitman & Emily Dickinson's poems
Both poets' work is more than 95yrs old & no longer copyrighted. This movie has a feminist plot line, if you are turned off by harbingers of social justice & women driving a story along this isn't for you. You might even find it boring.
But it's a very good film and. J. R reminds me of a young, civil, sound Johnny Depp.
