I wanted to like this movie more than I did but points for trying?

What this movie does right: If you're going to make a movie with a bunch of demonic slasher demons, give us blood and lots of it. When the kills are happening, it's got a great low-budget, low-class '80s throwback vibe. And I kind of love the cheesiness of the costumes. Yeah, demons, let's throw down.

What this movie does wrong: Every moment when the slashers aren't on screen. It's not that the actors aren't trying, it's just that as you watch the umpteenth scene of characters not listening to the main character, you are painfully aware that you could watching five slasher demons killing people instead. It's what we're here for, so give us more of it. The dialogue is laughably bad, while the demons just pantomime, which is another point in their favor.

Next time, just let the police raid the killer, take the book, read it out loud at the station, and let the demons slash their way through cops and criminals alike while the heroine tries to figure out how to stop it. It would have been a much better plot. Then again, this movie didn't have the budget for police uniforms, so...

This movie gets an extra star, however, for the audacious ambition of creating a cinematic universe with other extremely low budget, quickly made throwaway horror movies like The Curse of Humpty Dumpty. I see you, movie, and I appreciate you for it just a little bit more.

[Yes, the name is clearly a rip of Five Nights at Freddy's, but eh, who cares, I got more blood in this one than in the official one. And ripping off movie names has been a time-honored low-budget tradition for decades now, anyway.]

Disappointed that no reviewers noticed this was more like a cinematic universe attempt (sad as it may be) than a FNAF ripoff

The ONLY things this movie rips off from FNAF is the cover layout for the movie poster and the name "Freddy." A parody attention grabber, misguided as it was. Or maybe it bought in more viewers than would have watched it otherwise?

Anyway, I'm disappointed in anyone who claims to be a big horror fan and didn't notice that the characters in the cover picture are from Jagged Edge's other films (and/or perhaps adjacent films).

To be completely honest, I think that Croc! Is the only JE movie I've actually watched, but as someone who's been a horror fan for nearly half a century now, I have spent endless hours scrolling through horror titles trying to find a decent one to watch. From that alone I recognized that the cover had characters from their other movies. Humpty Dumpty being the most unique and recognizable to me. I almost feel like he's stalking me because somehow I keep seeing his movies listed everywhere that I see a horror category for streaming.

I think their Easter Bunny Massacre and Amityville Scarecrow characters were adjusted to be more visually cohesive to the group. Need them all to at least sort of look like they belong in the same movie. Now the clown, to me looks like a mash up between 2 of the characters from Killer Klowns from Outer Space, so maybe it's homage, or maybe someone who worked on both wanted to link it, but they didn't have the rights so they are skirting copyright. Or it could be a character from one of the many other JE movies that I have not watched. Not completely sure, but it looks very familiar.

Plot-wise, this is bizarrely more akin to Hellraiser and demon summoning movies. Calling on an otherworldly entity with a menacing 3 person entourage of few words.

I get the impression that they were going for a movie that people would watch and be like: "Hey, is that the character from ____?" "Is this scene supposed to be a parody of that other movie?" "Oh, so are they saying that when a B-movie monster dies, it can become a cenobite?" etc. Etc.

So, points for playing the meta trivia game, but minus points for the references being a little TOO weak and niche and for not bringing much else to the table.

Okay Horror

I have noticed that a lot of people have dismissed this movie as a Five Nights At Freddy's rip off, but it's actually not. This movies is its own thing, It's a neat little horror, nothing really stands out, but it is watchable, and that's all I ask. The acting is fine, the cast doing their thing and the violence is enough to make any lover of gore happy. The demons have a FNAF/Willys Wonderland look, but that does not hurt the movie at all.

The story, a man picking up woman, mostly escorts to read from an ancient book in order to become human sacrifices does work, but there is nothing really memorable here. It dies entertain and I think it is a little better that FNAF but not as much fun as Willys Wonderland.

It is not as bad as some critics seem to think of it, but nothing really stands out as different or clever. It is better than some horror movies on offer these days.
