The concept seemed good. A girl dies, reawakens inexplicably, and then behaves as if possessed by an evil entity. It's a basic plot, but I figured I'd be in for at least a C+ horror. The lead actress seems OK, and I guess the Italy setting seemed to mix with the religious theme

I just feel that the movie fails to execute. Instead of fully focusing on the girl and what's wrong with her, we get all these annoying and boring flashbacks involving the mother (they keep going back to some scratches on her arm too). At one point, she meets an individual who describes how he's seen people who came back from the dead, just as the girl did; and the movie just fails so badly in this scene. What should have been a scary exposition comes off as normal and mundane for some reason. Basically - my feedback is that movie should've focused more on the girl, not the mother and her past.

Let me start off by saying that if you're looking for horror, scares or things that go bump in the night, look elsewhere because this is not a horror, nor thriller nor anything remotely close to anything in the horror genre. It's a heartfelt suspense drama about a mother's guilt that haunts her from losing one of her twin daughter's when then child was very young. And from the traumatic experience of losing her twin sister when she was just a child, the now older living twin daughter lost her ability to speak (another review says the living twin suffers from being deaf) but the traumatic experience only caused her to stop speaking, her hearing is perfectly fine.

But the living twin suffers and incident that causes her to be die for about twenty minutes, she comes back to life, is now able to speak again but as the story progresses, the mother realizes that something is seriously off about her daughter. The story climaxes with the mother taking matters into her own hands, with the admitting of her past guilts, only to be resolved via the afterlife. Once she's there, forgiveness and healing prevails and the living twin is all better and back to normal. A story with the somewhat vibes from the film with the late Robin William's, What Dreams May Come. A much better film by the way. But overall, Here After is meh decent but ultimately a forgettable one time watch.

This movie opens up about a deaf child trying to have a normal life like the rest of us.

But what we do get is a deaf child actress who can play a piano, looks away from other actors in scenes when they are interacting plus she goes to a normal school not a deaf school.

The character gets injured obvioulsy riding a bike on a main road obviously because she can't hear traffic so it beggars belief that any parent would allow their deaf child to do so but hey this is a movie right?

Basically the character comes back from the dead because after 20 min of no oxygene to the brain she should be a vegetable right?

The film is frustrating to watch due to the common inaccuracies of someone portraying a deaf character. Strangely after the accident she can now hear and talk because a good serious accident can cure deafness problems right?

As for the horror it was mediocre at best and there was nothing suspensful with regards to the direction of the movie.

Its the usual Catholic religion in a Catholic country where religion is used as an example off fighting evil.

By the way the young girls piano playing gets worst if that makes any difference and she also has a morbid outlook like you do by knocking off birds with your bare hands.

I gave this film 1/10 due to the stupidity of getting a deaf character so wrong it beggars belief.
