Ongoing music in background throughout movie was too distracting ...

The title was an immediate hook for me, so I watched it. However the background music that played throughout the entire movie was so distracting for me, especially when the dialogue was happening. It just felt out of place. I really tried to follow the course of the movie, but I think if the background music wasn't there the story would've be more engaging for me.

The burning of the art is relatable for me as I'm an artist and I have trashed art I've made out of frustration.

I was hoping to see more details about dyslexia and her amazing artwork, but it seemed like there were too many stories happening to follow. Maybe the feeling of this film is to leave the viewer a lost?

The acting came across unnatural and some of the dialogue seemed forced and in genuine.

Yay, her talent got noticed and her once loving relationship with her mom grew cold. Unfortunately.

Wish I knew what the message was.

Nowadays anyone can make a movie... and they do!

Trash movies used to be about teenagers wanting to have sex with girls who are actually alien or they got lost in the woods where, coincidentally, there's a maniac with a chainsaw wanting to kill everyone. However, for such trashy movies you are prepared from the title so you don't have any expectations. This movie pretends to be a serious one as it deals with sensitive topics but it's trashy since the opening scene. A mum is obsessed with teaching her toddler the school curriculum years before she's supposed to learn it. Not only the mum doesn't give her toddler enough space to play freely but she places her on a tall table and walks off. Next, she hands the child a ceramic cup filled with liquid, while the child is still dangerously sitting on the table and the toddler's hands are too small to grab the cup. Even the toddler herself is smart enough not to take the cup but the mother insists... At this point I stopped watching altogether. Trash disguise as a drama is really too much for me to handle.

Accurate portrayal of what it's like to live with dyslexia

This was probably the shortest film I've ever seen, but it had a powerful message, that having problems with learning doesn't make someone less intelligent than the next person. I don't have dyslexia, so I can't speak on it personally, but I'm sure it's a disorder that's hard to live with, due to the embarrassment and shame that it causes for the person who has it, particularly when they go to school. Kids who have dyslexia can be successful when it comes to academics - they just need modifications to their learning, such as tutoring and small class sizes.

Not Broken is a story about Winter Knight (Ann Marie Ryan), a dyslexic girl who is exceptionally talented when it comes to art. The movie is a progression of her life from the time she's a toddler to the age of 18. When she's little and her mom (Natalie King) is trying to teach her about numbers and letters, she's not interested and would rather draw instead. When she's in elementary school her mom takes her to a neuropsychologist, and that's when she's diagnosed with dyslexia. Winter struggles throughout high school, and that's when she makes a suggestion to her mom that perhaps she would have less of a hard time if she obtained a job. But she experiences difficulties with that as well. One day while working in a coffeeshop, after taking a customer's order and asking for her name, she struggles to write her name on the cup, so she draws her face instead, which looks beautiful. She starts doing this for all of the customers. After going through her challenges with reading, she realizes there's nothing wrong with being different, as differences are what make all of us special. It's a nice family-oriented movie. I definitely recommend for parents who have a dyslexic child.
