I remember the famous Florida crash when I was in high school, and it seems to never go away.
A few years later, there was a truly scary tv movie starring Ernest Borgnine as one of the pilots from the crash whose ghost returned? Whether you believe it or not, it's up to you, and as they say, proceed with caution.
This original documentary was aired on the 50th anniversary of the tragic crash last year which I saw, and I viewed it again late night last night. Perhaps that's the problem in the first place. May have played better on a sunny afternoon? Ya think? Personally, I came away with more detail from the second viewing as it delves into the technical aspects of the crash. This documentary is actually in two parts; paranormal and historical, as planes still fail regardless of aviation advancements. They also review a second air crash in Florida that occurred some 20 years later. If you are a believer or not, you have to admit the program was thoughtfully done, particularly cutaway interviews with surviving passengers and retired personnel who worked for Eastern Airlines and knew the deceased crew members. The takeaway from that is how these folks have been dealing with the tragedy after all these years. It's a sobering segment. Of course, the paranormal exploration (with voice and sound hi tech machinery) is debatable as we are all among the living. That said, investigators Steve and Cindy are to be given credit, especially in a spooky setting at the original crash site in the middle of the Everglades late at night. If you want to capture an audience, that's how you do it.
The controversy does continue.... One reviewer noted that a preserved window from the crash may not be the "haunted" pilot window, and the fact that Eastern actually supplemented undamaged parts from the doomed plane to be used on other planes. There are sworn testimonies about ghosts and bizarre incidents related to these parts. It would have been extremely interesting had they got in contact with some of the former Eastern Airlines top brass and get their take on these "haunted" parts. But again, it probably would have been all business and NO speculation. It's amazing how big business bigshots are never affected by the paranormal. That may be the key to it all. Become a top CEO and never worry about ghosts again! Whatever the case.... this is one documentary that will hold your attention and does stand out, unlike the scores of cable tv ghost expeditions that after awhile all seem about the same. Recommended for all of us armchair explorers.

A WELL DONE PARANORMAL DOCUMENTARY
Windows & EVP's
First off, there's a glaring flaw in the segment where the clairvoyant and the investigator are in the Eastern Aitlines Museum. The clairvoyant gets a vibe that she's in the cockpit and looking out the window. The investigator then pulls back a blanket to reveal what he describes as a window from the flight 401 cockpit. The problem is that the window is not an L-1011 cockpit window - which are slightly trapezoid shaped and much larger. This one's about a third to a half size smaller than any of the windows in the cockpit. It looks roughly like a cabin window, but a little larger. I realize that there are probably different L-1011 models, but this seems a little too far off the mark.
Secondly, the EVP's are complete sentences. That's a first. I sincerely hope that this isn't a hoax, but it's starting to look that way.
