Doesn't quite fit

This installment of the Postables franchise is something of an aberration in the series. Yet it is a necessary one to advance the ongoing story.

The earlier short single season TV series lays the foundation for this TV movie and this one may be difficult to follow without that. Up until now, the franchise has been teasing viewers with two sets of relationships that seem inevitable, but where one needs a kick in the pants, and the other has a major obstacle in the way. This story does both.

I said this story doesn't quite fit. Yes it fills a needed purpose, but it is unlike all the previous episodes, and the ones that follow also, because this story is barely about the dead "letter" they find at the start of the story. This episode is almost entirely focused on the regular characters.

I thought there were a couple of sequences in this story that didn't really make sense, and not in the quirky way that this franchise usually has. The entire situation between Holly and Oliver goes around in circles purely to draw out the suspense of what the viewer is pretty certain is going to happen in the end. And then that happens abruptly. Even Norman and Rita's portion of the story seemed to have a disconnect in it where Norman's rival, Ramon, suddenly disappears. A lot of screen time is spent on flowery words and speeches and a lot of symbolism. The story, even considering the two or three parts of it, lacks enough substance for the length of the TV movie.

There are two scenes at the very end which nicely launch the future of the series, even if that future continues to progress slowly though at least 9 future TV movies over a four year period.

Oddly, my experience with this franchise is that I saw all, or almost all the TV movies that follow this mostly in order prior to the TV series or this movie. Then I watched the series. I'm glad it happened that way because had I started with this one, I don't think I would have fallen in love with the franchise. (I think I would have still loved it all had I watched it in the order they were all released.)

is it the end of the series?

I love this series, every episode really touches my heart deeply and drove my tears crazy. this particular episode is still very good, however I feel like the story is not really concentrated enough on the task they have on hand, but seems like more to quickly wrap up the love affair between the two pairs. the character also seems to be changed a bit, in the previous episodes Shane McInerney seems to be quite smart, pulled together calm strong girl. suddenly became this love sick and angry girl at the end of this episode which i find quite odd. and also i find the character Holly quite confusing and frankly not believable.

Anyway I do wish the series will come back and handle more tasks , which their value and belief intact.
