I wanted to give this film a chance because of the wonderful cinematography, atmospheric music, and likeable characters. Unfortunately, it ends up feeling like a rejected Twilight Zone script stretched way too thin.

The first half consists of a guy named Elliot just chilling by himself in a desert motel and gradually starting to show symptoms of a possible mental health crisis after his wife dumps him over the phone. Then, he meets a woman who apparently looks exactly like his wife, which he seems to take his sweet time recognizing while they take turns creeping each other out until she decides to let him in on her big secret - she's on the run from some bad guys with her companion robot/fake husband built by her real husband, who died from a heart attack after she caught him cheating with his boss' wife and reported it to the boss.

The rest of the film focuses on the woman's quest to find her husband (the real one who is supposed to be dead, remember?) while Elliot just kind of tags along. An appearance by an evil demon sets up an ending that is either deliberately ambiguous or just plain lazy, depending on the viewer's mood. My money is on "It was a hallucination all along" but the entire plot is so muddled that I don't think even the writer could honestly explain what he intended.

I actually didn't mind the film...until it just started to feel like a 10 hour film in slow motion.

It's just a beautifully made film that spins it's tires for 2 hours. Think an X-Files episode that David Lynch directed, the reality being---if Lynch directed it, it would be a more pleasurable viewing. For those with a short attention or lacking some sleep of late, take this as your warning; don't.

If you like well crafted cinematography and interesting, dark premise with tinge of surrealism and science fiction--this could work for you---though on a larger scale, it promises and fails to deliver something larger.

Comparable to After Yang with it's beautiful filming and bogs down within it's own "weight" and pacing.

Sit through an opening consisting of 4 minutes slow driving in an unchanging desert without getting bored and maybe you can sit thru this exceedingly slow, poorly acted, poorly written and poorly directed fiasco.

The only positive thing I can say about this movie is that the lighting is good.

The main actor -- who has luggage they havent made since the 1970's, for some reason, and a limp that is not explained -- decides to sit at the pool in the blistering heat in a long sleeve shirt when he meets a femme fatale from the movie poster, who is an equally bad actor.

The plot is ludicrous and is made worse by the absolutely horrible acting and mollasses-slow unfolding.

At this point you realize you have one hour and forty five minutes to go. If you stick it out, a few more bad actors are introduced to the plot as well as slow motion minotaur, wearing a "mechanic" jump suit.

The untalented writer/director needs to be held accountable for this garbage. It's absolutely horrible. Who gave him money to waste on this?
