I had never heard about this 2018 Singaporean romantic comedy titled "The Big Day" as I sat down to watch it here in 2023. I stumbled upon the movie by random chance, and with my love of Asian cinema, then of course I had to watch it.
Writers Thean-jeen Lee and Pi Situ put together a script and storyline that was actually quite entertaining and enjoyable. Sure, the story was sort of generic, it is a romantic comedy after all, but it was still a nicely written storyline, and with some genuinely funny moments and interesting characters to spruce things up.
I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in "The Big Day", but they had a good cast ensemble to portray the various characters and roles.
If you enjoy romantic comedies, then "The Big Day" is well-worth spending 88 minutes on watching. I will admit that I was genuinely entertained from start to end.
My rating of director Thean-jeen Lee's 2018 movie "The Big Day" lands on a six out of ten stars.
