Tom taking the blame was hard to swallow. He was basically a good guy whose only crime was an extramarital affair. The film unravels for me in a few places. First off Tom doesn't know his son killed his mistress until the end. Since dead people tell no tales and he had not seen the drone footage yet, why didn't he call the cops? There is a dead girl in his pool and he didn't do it and no proof she didn't just steal a free swim in his pool. When he does find out his son did it, why not let him face up to what he did? He would probably get off on an insanity plea for a crime of passion seeing his dad cheat, Tom himself could get the death penalty or life for something he didn't do. And lastly the original plan was to frame the girl's husband, who he still thinks may have been beating her, because she told him so. We never see him again after he unties himself. So that is yet another loose end.

Too many plot holes
Ejoyable suspense, disappointing finale
Film is good at delivering suspense that keeps one on the edge of the seat for most of the time, even when the budget is clearly low given the limited scenarios and actors repertoire, that I would rate as 8.
However the grand finale is not on the par with the rest of the movie in terms of suspense because if feels rushed and without creativity, that is why lowering the rating to 5. Although still unexpected, it is clearly the very particular thing the protagonist was trying to avoid during the whole movie. That just leaves you the sensation that the whole movie was a waste of time, including the time of the watchers.
There is a goof when the lover is suppossedly dead and is touched in the forehead, she gestures as if blinking.
Not quite a Lifetime Movie
A faux, joyous surprise Birthday Party reveals adultery and a dead mistress as an unexpected gift is the story of this Lifetime Movie Like film. The film stars Freddie Prinze Jr (Thomas), Monica Potter (Kristen), Gabrielle Haugh (Hannah), Tyler Lawrence Gray (Alex), Brielle Barbusca (Rose), Kevin Pollack (William). With a great cast like that you expect a really good film, but it goes to show you great actors can't produce with a poor script, and poor direction which is such a shame. Just when a scene in the film wasn't too bad, a bad scene that made you question and think to yourself, what were they thinking?? It's so so at best.
