This wasn't what I thought it was going to be

I anticipated a horror film about a nanny from hell, or at least a psychotic nanny. Always American films portray the villains with English accents. I ended up pretty intrigued and then wondered what was going on. It was quite messy and the story could've been better if it wasn't for the tree man, or the warehouse full of small insect people. I won't give away too much.

Not Horror or Sci-Fi but pure Fantasy

I do understand if some people get disappointed if they believe it is a horror movie they are going to watch. This movie is not scary unless maybe for kids.

I believed myself I was going to watch a science fiction movie and it is even less that except for some weaponry.

But if you like me love a good or is it bad fairy tale then this may be the right movie for you. This movie is not a gem but it was fine entertainment for me and I do not regret spending my time here. So if you are into fantasy creatures of the night you may have a movie for you here. I did also enjoy the way the actor played the nanny that was kind of spooky.

If you are looking for a sci-fi or horror movie you should look other places

Offbeat and original

Petulant young lass Noa (a fine performance by Jadin Harris) takes an immediate disliking to her mysterious new nanny Leonor (a mesmerizing portrayal by Jaime Murray). It turns out that both Leonor and Noa are much, much more than they initially appear to be.

Director Joel Novoa not only keeps the unusual and absorbing story moving along at a constant pace, but also ably crafts a supremely spooky gloom-doom dark fairytale atmosphere as well as brings a strong sense of awe and wonder to the fantastic premise. Moreover, what makes this film so special and impressive is the clever way it blends elements of both horror and fantasy in a very deliciously eerie, entrancing, and inspired way. The excellent acting by the tip-top cast rates as another major asset: Schuyler Fisk as harried mother Anna, Nicholas Brandon as obsessed loon David, Nick Gomez as the concerned Officer Frank, and Christian Ganiere as Noa's troubled younger brother Michael. Both Petr Cikhart's sharp cinematography and the shivery score by Pablo Croissier and Orlando Perez Rosso further enhance the sterling quality of this cool little sleeper.
