I had to rewind because I thought I missed something but I didn't. The story line wasn't as fluent as it needed to be to make it a great movie.
Drew was awesome per usual. Erica is getting better with every low budget movie she does. The sex scene between them was Cringey at first because who gives oral so hard? I was also confused because I could have sworn Drew left with a man.
Building up the characters would have been helpful as the characters seemed all over the place. I'm also confused about why a pass was given.. I could see if the marriage was in trouble or if they wanted to spice things up a bit but to just randomly suggest a pass didn't make sense.
Seeing the"Best Friend" set him up was a bit of but made sense at the end.
5 starts due to the plot twist and Drew.
Plot summary
Nina and Maurice, a married couple who give each other one night off from fidelity, the titular "hall pass." Their lives quickly turn upside down as the one night of pleasure becomes a tool of deception.

Plot twist was good
yay! Drew!
If it wasn't for Drew Sidora, this would've been another very bad attempt at a movie, she was charming, vulnerable and i was believing her story, now all the other actors, terrible!
At times it felt like a housewives spinoff, even Shamea made it in.
And definitely the judge is related to Kandi, she looks like Mama Joyce.
It's a great attempt for Todd, as his first film, but next time get a better production artist and art director, some of the camera shots felt too flat like the camera was just recording whatever on a stand, for example, the scene of Drew & her husband at the dining table, the vases at the center of the table take too much space, and it's very distracting, the camera was too close.
Kandi's acting was not the best here, it was like she was playing herself and was a bit bored, (kinda like in housewives).
But overall, for a first film it's a success, and good thing that at the end everything is explained, because i spent most of the time wondering what happened, how the partner switched and i kept waiting for a backtrack, there should've been a little bit of how Drew ended up w/ her that first time.
Just... painful to watch (SMALL spoiler)
Props to Candi and Todd for making a "low budget" film through their respective companies. However, this is not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination. The "actors" seem like some attractive people who were plucked from the street and given roles, the storyline isn't cohesive, there is no character development, no arc, nothing. What irked me the most is that the whole movie is based on giving someone a "pass" in marriage to see other people, but there was absolutely no reason for this couple to come to this decision! They weren't having intimacy issues or romance issues. It made no sense to see other people just because the main character's mom is meddling in their lives! The whole setup for why they did it in the first place didn't make any sense, and it's what the whole movie is about!
While I think it's wonderful to support your community and people you like from TV, coming on here to give this movie a 10/10 and write things like "great plot and acting!" and "must see!! Keep them coming!" like you've never seen Fences or Set It Off or Brown Sugar, is not doing anyone any favors. Not the producers who may think this is actually worth watching, not the actors who will think they don't need to improve, and most certainly NOT the viewers who are expecting a half decent film. This movie is not good.
I can appreciate wanting to make a flim, but this is a prime example of "just because you have the means to, doesn't mean you should".
