Plot summary

Charlotte and Brandon meet online just after their previous relationships have imploded; in an effort to make themselves more appealing, they have fudged, exaggerated, re-imagined, and outright lied about their pasts in an attempt to be each other's perfect match. Now that they've said their "I do's" they are about to get a funny, hellish, and eye-opening look at just who they've vowed to spend the rest of their lives with. Will familiarity breed contempt... or bliss?

Technically flawed, but has some good points

The sound, the camera work, the lightning, and the realism of the effects (like the accident) are of the lowest quality. I have no doubt about that.

The script could need some polishing, but the story as a whole was kind of enjoyable.

The actors were pretty decent, or even good, but as it happens, the actors cannot carry the whole weight of a movie and compensate for other flaws.

The Truth is Somewhere in the Lie

I mainly watch television shows these days; I used to watch movies more than anything. Probably 12,000-14,000 ratings here on movies alone. For some reason I'm watching a lot of TV shows these days (two years). Just finished "Sneaky Pete". Anyway, all A films are formulaic in the sense that you know what you're getting whether great, or not. B films try a little harder; most times they fail. I didn't know whether this was going to be Hallmarkish, or what. I hate Hallmark films. They're all the same and they emphasise drama over everything. You've seen one Hallmark film, you've seen them all. I can't believe they produced "Farscape". Anyway, this film has that Hallmark feel to it. I looked to see who produced it because it felt Hallmarkish in the beginning but when a character dropped the f-bomb, I knew it wasn't a Hallmark film. I was relieved and continued watching.

This film is a story of love. Two people never really had it and they lie to each other about themselves to finally find what they've been missing. So sweet, I guess. On one side you have Charlotte (Fiona Gubelmann, "The Good Doctor", "Wilfred") who basically has only been with one man her entire life. She ends up pushing him off a cliff. He didn't die. Then you have Brandon (Ben Lawson, "Neighbours") who seems that he can't really commit to his girlfriend Ashley (Kristi Clainos) and finds her having sex in their bed with another guy who he faints on top of while their still engaged in intercourse. So, after a very short while, they get married. 10 days later they seek a divorce when they find out that they're both frauds and blaming the other rather than themselves. The only thing they start with of the 'truth' is a Swedish TV show they both love.

It's not a great film. It has some humorous parts throughout, and I laughed several times. I'm not a 'smile' type of person. I'm an ornery kind of guy, at least that's what people tell me that know me. This film made me smile. I enjoyed it. I rate mainly on technical so I couldn't give this a higher rating than I did. The ending, of course, was predictable and one could see it coming once you figured out the film in the first 10 minutes. But that's okay. Not really a big deal for me because it made me smile and making an ornery guy like me smile, well, that takes something special. Also, it's always nice seeing Tobin Bell in something. Seeing him playing a hippy type character; that alone may be worth watching this film. I would have given it a 7/10 if they didn't have the private parts of the guy at the end blurred. Not saying I wanted to see that but if you're going to do a scene like that then do it, don't blur it.
