Bellissimo

I loved this 2nd film in the The Wedding Veil series. It's such a refreshing change to the usual Hallmark films & loved the history behind the veil. The locations are absolutely stunning - Italy is my favourite European country. Autumn Reeser is one of my favourite Hallmark actors & there was chemistry between her & Paolo. Whoever choose Autumn's wardrobe had impeccable taste. I can't wait for my Wedding Veil Legacy DVD to arrive from the US.

The Wedding Veil Unveiled

And so the wedding veil both literally and the franchise gets passed from Lacey Chabert (who just about kept part 1 afloat) to Autumn Reeser.

This didn't inspire much confidence in me, because while Reeser is one of Hallmark's stalwarts in terms of leading ladies (and they've been losing a few lately), her films can often be a bit patchy. She plays uptight characters who seem to take an age to soften.

Much like part 1, this just about works. The story feels thinner this time around, with the constant "oh, I bumped into the leading man" element wearing a bit thin.

Reeser remains likable though, and this had enough nice moments for me to stick with it, and go into part 3 with a vague sense of curiosity about how it will all end up.

Fine overall.

A Quest Romance

Actually more than what my title says. Romance. A Quest. A Travelog. History.

I noted a while back that Lacey Chabert had done a string of Hallmark movies that were stories set in interesting places. Travelogs. I find it interesting that Chabert was the architect of this series, yet Reeser gets to do the travel story.

While the story itself had no great highs or lows, surprises or tension (other than the romantic), with all those things above going on it still is enough to be worth watching.

The provenance of the veil has no great historical import, but it is a nice story. The travel scenery is pretty good in this movie.

Autumn Reeser and Paolo Bernardini have decent chemistry. With so many things going on I'm surprised the movie managed enough screen time to pull of the romantic chemistry.
