The School of Schizophrenia...
You've escaped from the embrace of those with power, been adopted by a family and you flower, you have skills, intelligence, a bit of magic holds suspense, and now the chance for fame and fortune, but things sour. Though you're strong and can fight back against the challenge, at those who seek retaliation and revenge, it's as if you cannot die, the laws of physics you defy, and you're the one with actions to avenge. So you fight and show them all the thing you do, retribution overwhelms and consumes you, as the blood begins to flow, lives are taken as you throw, a demonstration of all the strengths that you imbue.
Wickedly wild witchery.......
The Witch starts off comfortably enough with a very Korean domestic teen vibe. I found it a little annoyingly sugary at times and overstated. That said, it does set the scene nicely for the stark contrast, that comes next.
This film is extraordinarily frenetic, action packed and violent. Certainly once it gets started its never ever boring but the mayhem can get a little exhausting at times. Its not one for the faint hearted but if you enjoyed films like the John Wick franchise, you will, I suspect, love this one.
What helps lift The Witch above a lot of other similar films is an intriguing and intricate story and in some cases, genuinely excellent acting.
A worthwhile watch. 7/10.
