I found this movie on Netflix after searching for something about Nikola Tesla and this one came up, so I watched.

I enjoyed the movie. The acting was relatable, emotional and heart-felt. The interaction between Grady and Kai felt real and you could definitely feel the tension between them in the beginning. Grady's 'father' was the kind of guy everyone would wish as a mentor, honest and kindhearted.

However, the movie had some elements that left me confused at the end. Like what was Manna's purpose in the movie and what happened to him after? Did he just run off or did he commit suicide? He's never mentioned again after that. Maybe he was there to talk about his own situation and to show how Grady should be more grateful to have Kai. Also, the ending. So Grady (with help of Kai) got his machine to work using the programmed crystals that Kai's mom got from their father. This was what he had spent his entire life trying to find. What happened next? It just stops.

I liked the movie because the acting was good and it was a subject that is interesting but feel the story line and character development was lacking.

There's no good science fiction here. It's more a tale for hippies that believe in the healing powers of crystals and think essential oils are a good substitute for showers and bathing.

I somewhat enjoyed the movie, but I admit I was "tinkering" on my phone as well and there's really nothing in this movie to keep you glued to the screen or on the edge of your seat.

And the ending was a big disappointment.

Decent acting, nonsensical and pointless script and story. I guess there's a moral in there somewhere. Like maybe don't be a dick to your kids?!

We find here some really incompetent 1-3 star reviews. I understand why some rated it low; it's a slow burner that didn't meet sci fi expectations or fill anyone's adrenaline addiction. But this film deserves far greater recognition. If this had been a dramatization of a real event, it might have been regarded as an exceptional film. They could have dropped the science fiction wrapping and made this simply a film about humanity and relationships; it would have served far better and perhaps been more highly regarded.

But in this case the sci fi is merely a sub-plot within a greater story. The trappings were about plant growth, but in truth the overall film is about personal growth.

If anything, the science fiction element detracts a bit from this, which is why I give it 8 stars instead of 10. But that 8 stars is for directing, cinematography, music and some of the best acting we've seen in quite some time. Clayne Crawford does an exceptional job in the main role. The supporting actors do very well. That's the real winner in this: the characters are believable. The sci fi is just sort of thrown in.

Overall the story being told is good-- a far distance from "one of the worst movies ever made". Those who rated this 7 to 10 stars have good reason for doing so.

If one is into spaceships, aliens, huge planetary explosions, laser battles, space babes or disaster flicks... this isn't the film for you. But if one goes into this looking for good acting, sensible story telling and unique characters, while the plot is a little unexpected... this is a gem of a film.
