Was very curious about the storyline. So I thought I will give this film a go. So Dawn has to live with her aunt after her mother is murdered, but due to circumstances she has to leave and fend for herself.
So a lot of this film has a basis of religion attached which unfortunately spoils it for me. I am guessing that this is the message that the director was hoping for but however a lot of the film is lost in translation.
A majority of the film kind of submits to the audience that even living under the roof of god should be safe, Dawn finds that this is not the case, and later into the story she kinda has it forced down her throat that God can save her. Hmmm not sure whats right there.
Anyway it is all a bit blunt, no follow up about her mother's murder, the pastor is has happy at the start of the film and later on thanks to God, but I give the film 5/10, because there is some good acting, semi good storyline, just loses itself with the overboard no so believable religious theme.
Plot summary
Dawn is ready to finish her senior year of high school when her neglectful, party-loving mother is tragically killed, forcing Dawn to go to live with her aunt Jamie who co-pastors a church with her husband, Willem. Unfortunately, not long into her stay things go terribly wrong, and Dawn runs away. When Dawn's Aunt Jamie realizes her home was not the safe-haven she thought it was, she embarks on a courageous search for Dawn. Dawn, having no foreknowledge of the streets, is easy prey for a two-bit street hustler, falling for his well-rehearsed flattery. She is lured into a life she could never have imagined for herself. Jamie learns of her predicament and becomes more determined than ever to rescue her, despite Dawn's desire to distance herself. Anxiously Jamie befriends a street minister, and the two of them set out together to find Dawn. However, in her search for Dawn, Jamie realizes it is not only Dawn who needs rescuing.

Interesting.
A young adolescent named Dawn whose mother is unexpectedly shot and killed and afterwards is sent to live with her aunt and uncle. And then when her uncle is discovered to be a pervert, she runs off and is caught off guard by a smooth talking pushover who also has a disrespectful demeanor towards women. A pimp basically. The only bright side is Dawn gets rescued and finishes high school. And her aunt Jamie comes around herself. So a pleasant reunion after all that's transpired. I gave Undeserved a 5 out 5 stars. Surprised they never aired this on Lifetime or LMN considering the content and all.
Engaging
An engaging film that portrays the fight of a teenage girl. An interesting storyline that will keep you guessing.
