Two former rivals reconnect over drinks and a quick bite. Decent short story - a fun watch

The metaphor is a bit in your face but then again the Vampire metaphors have always been in your face for like a century now and still have never gotten old. So there is always something relatable.

The cinematography is quite theatrical and can be a bit monotonous if you are not used to that much, but the characters are fun and the acting is really good. I feel there might be missing a point of catharsis at the end but then again your rarely get that in real life on the matters the movie is dealing with, so It strikes as more relatable as such. Lovely short movie in general, an enjoyable watch that does not overstay its welcome.

Revised review, A Disjointed Vampire Flick That Tries Too Hard

(I had previously written a review for this film that seems to have mysteriously disappeared, and I can't help but believe that its removal was under the guise of "transphobia." It's unfortunate that any criticism of her work, whether constructive or otherwise, seems to be stifled. This isn't the first time I've seen criticism of her be silenced, I've witnessed a person in a YouTube live stream threatened with a ban for so-called "backseat acting," a nebulous term that, in practice, seems to mean "providing any criticism whatsoever please only praise me my ego needs it please thank you."

Let me be clear: I fully respect and affirm Abigail Thorn's gender identity, and I do not believe that gender should shield anyone from criticism regarding their work. My critique has nothing to do with who she is as a person but rather the content of her film. I believe that all creators, regardless of gender or identity, should be open to receiving feedback-whether positive or negative-as it's an essential part of growth and improving their craft. Now that this has been clarified, here is my new review)

If you're in the mood for a movie that feels like it was slapped together by a team that forgot what direction they were going halfway through, then this is your film. Despite the promising setup, the execution squanders it's potential. From stilted acting to a script that seems unsure of its own tone, this film struggles to find its identity amidst a parade of cringeworthy dialogue and disjointed scenes. This feels feels like a high school production of a film trying to mimic Fleabag but with vampires and far more edge.

A particularly horrendous scene involves a pool party where Bella ogles a guy. When the man offers her the "romantic" suggestion to snort a line off his reproductive organ, the exchange falls into crass absurdity, setting the tone for the entire film: one uncomfortable moment after another, with no emotional payoff. Also falls into the "token minority immediately dies" trope, yikes

The dialogue is like a chaotic Tumblr fanfic that attempts to balance dark humor, relationship drama, and horror elements but fails to deliver on any of these. Instead, we get a barrage of sex jokes, poorly executed social commentary, and oddly juvenile dialogue. It's as if the creators attempted to use vampires as an allegory for domestic conflict, while having no idea what an allegory was. Perhaps the vampire angle was just added as an excuse to wear some gothic hot topic esque getup and so Abigail could get covered in fake blood The film's constant insistence on being edgy, sexual, and darkly comedic only ends up feeling juvenile and stunted. It may not surprise you considering the cast, but it is reminiscent of helluva boss and like that show, this is nothing but a lazy collection of sex jokes and vulgarity. I would like to take this time to apologize to the relative writing, directing, producing and acting powerhouse that is Tommy Wiseau, as I had previously compared his unintentional comedic masterpiece to this headache of a film, with no redeeming qualities, intentional or otherwise

Overall, this film tries far to be witty and subversive but ends up a jumbled mess with little redeeming value. There are hints of a more interesting movie buried somewhere in the concept, but unfortunately, it never surfaces. Watch at your own risk.

Great short film

Too often characters will be entirely one thing or another to ensure you feel one way about them. Dracula's Ex-Girlfriend lets it's two leads be a bit more complex than that. They're not perfect, they're people - albeit ageless people that hide from the sun and crave the blood of the living. Sometimes they're more sympathetic, sometimes they're not, but they're always engaging. The whole film manages that balance wonderfully. It's funny, it's dramatic, it's suspenseful, it's horrifying. Sometimes it's one of these things, other times it's all of them at once. But it still feels cohesive, and the story is driven by the characters and not just the needs of the plot. At a little under 32 minutes it's the perfect length for it's story, with enough time to allow the occasional quiet moment but not so much that you notice the time.
