Therapy session, musical or stand-up comedy?
It feels more like of a therapy session than a stand-up comedy show honestly. It's depressing and I did not laugh at all. Also, why do you need to sing every 10 mins during the show? If I wanted to watch a musical, I would have picked a musical show to watch, or simply pay for a west end show.
Loved her in Crazy Ex-girlfriend, but I did not enjoy this "stand-up comedy' at all. Honestly, this is the saddest stand-up comedy of all time, but I hope the audience enjoyed their therapy session with musical performances.
I do hope in the future they won't mix stand-up comedy with musical again, because it doesn't work.
Love Rachel Bloom
She is herself, and she creates art. Art is not always for the masses, but it's always, well, art. In earning my MFA, my professor asked me if I'd rather create something that everyone was kind of "hey that's okay" about, or something that some people loved and other people hated. (I don't think people will hate Rachel Bloom unless they don't appreciate open expression and a lack of fear of bodily fluids etc) - Artists create art, and not everyone loves everyone's art. Rachel Bloom is an artist. Crazy Ex Girlfriend was brilliant art, and this special is profound and amazing. Is it for everyone? Certainly not. Is it fantastic, brilliant art? Yes.
