Plot summary

In the near future, the "Spike," a 10,000 mile tall indestructible floating alien tentacle materializes in Earth's upper atmosphere, causing everybody to freak out. By now, though, everyone's gotten used to it. But after the Spike teleports a struggling beekeeper's beehives and a grieving wanderer's prized car halfway across the country, these two strangers must join together and take a dangerous roadtrip across a changed (but recognizable) America to get their stuff back.

Very emotional

I really liked how this movie kept me wanting to keep watching it. I liked how it was not fixated on the world wide issue at hand. It was an emotional roller coaster. One bad part of the movie was what the one of the main characters does something because of emotion. It didn't sit right with me, otherwise I would have given this a 8/10 stars.

Searching for comfort movies? look no further!

An ambitious blend of slice-of-life, road trip, and science fiction, infused with some genuine intents at its core, which I wholeheartedly admire.While it might not be the most sophisticated or high-concept feature, the messaging resonates well. The chemistry between the lead characters, Thalia and Kai, portrayed by Ashly Burch and Jordan Rodrigues, is commendable as they effectively strikes the right emotional chords.If only the comedic moments had landed more effectively and the balance between the contrasting tones been nicer, I would have been more generous with my rating.Nevertheless, I liked it for what it wanted to convey and would definitely recommend it to anyone in search of a 'comfort' feature, this might soothe your mind.

A quiet Saturday afternoon gem

I rarely watch anything outside of mystery/horror and true SciFi. I only watched this because I was intrigued by the idea of a teleporting alien spike. So for me to come write a review of this movie means this movie had a impact. It honestly really is just a drama, with a little comedy, a little romance, and even less SciFi. But the ending point of it was sooo good. The leads are okay, not fantastic, and there was an awkwardness that I don't feel was intentional, it kinda felt like young acting jitters. Nothing spectacular about the scenery other than the spike. The music was appropriate but nothing great. There was not ONE particular thing that stood out, but when it all came together at the end, I felt content and glad that I watched this movie.
